August 2015 Fishing Report
Fishing Report- over the top GOOD in BOTH Esperanza & Nootka. Fish have moved well into the inlets. Good numbers of Chinook are in as far Saltery Bay in Esperanza & well past Hisnit in Nootka. There are so many fish that nearly every bait is working BUT anchovies are still winning the day. A lot of fish in the 20-25lb few Tyees. Catching is best if lines are fished deeper on these many sunny days.
Why are there so many Chinook? One thought is because the Northern Troll fleet did not see the high number of WCVI Springs which they usually catch - "that the WCVI Chinook were hugging the coast in the colder waters not further out where the Troll Fleet normally intercepts them."
This may be the season when everybody limits out.
Tahsis Road Report- Had a Commercial Boat Mover bring in a 24ft. boat to the Marina. He commented on how GOOD the road is. Recently graded, Sprayed for dust, 45% paved/seal coated. There have been similar comments by several guests who also brought their boats in.

Mike Mitchell is coming to Westview Marina
The host of the popular TV show BC Outdoors Sport Fishing is arriving down at our dock on
August10th. And will be filming fishing/catching for the next 2 days in the Esperanza and Nootka Area . He is one of the most popular sport fishing TV outdoor hosts in B.C. We are very excited and honored that he has chosen to film an episode at Westview Marina & Lodge. Anyone who would like to come to the Meet and Greet on Tuesday evening August 11th is welcome, the fun starts at 6pm. The cost will be $15.00 per person with all proceeds going to the Salmon Enhancement. Also included are many delicious appetizers and a chance to hear from one of the top fishermen/outdoors men in B.C.
