where Frazer River migrating salmon travel will have
severe salmon catch retention restrictions on them.
The reasons are many, but the 2 primary drivers are
the low levels of salmon stocks in the Frazer and the
ability of the South Coast Killer Whales to survive
when the stocks are so low in the whale’s critical
summer travel habitat.
It is an unfortunate situation for fishers and business
who support the fisher in those areas.
The net result for Esperanza Inlet and Nootka Sound is
the Salmon regulations you fish with in 2018 will be
the same for 2019.
